About
The Inventor - George Carter invented the Surfjet in (1965)
George Carter has always been way ahead of his time. Expediting a process,
unique entertainment designs and an overall passion to create are just some of
the ingredients that make up Carter’s innovative mind. The first jet-pump
personal watercraft; Today’s JetSki’s are a direct descendant of Carter’s
design.
Company History
- 1965-1978 Company was established by Bombardier Corp.

1979-1981
Then the company was sold and moved to St. Paul, Minnesota.
- 1981-1993 Surfjet opened a division in Janesville, WI known as
Progressive Power Corp.
- 1994-1998 Surfjet was bought out, and the Minnesota plant closed, and
Janesville became the new Surfjet establishment. Within those four years
the company became Wild Thing Watercraft and then went out of business in
1998. All stock stayed at the Janesville plant with certified parts.
- In 1999 I happened upon Certified Parts Corp. looking for a part and
purchased the remaining boards that Surfjet had before they went out of
business.
